InvisaFil™ is our finest invisible thread line, a remarkable silk-like 100wt, 2-ply cottonized polyester. This ultra-fine but surprisingly strong thread has cotton-like characteristics and negligible stretch, while also feeling soft in the hand. InvisaFil™ makes for super low-bulk stitches that virtually “disappear,” making it the ultimate choice for English paper piecing, delicate lace designs, fine fabrics, creating texture when micro quilting, or whenever you don’t want your stitching to show.

Available in 60 colours ranging from subtle neutrals to bold brights, all finished matte so you control exactly how much — or how little — the thread shows. Because it behaves more like cotton than typical polyester, InvisaFil™ blends easily into a wide range of fabrics, letting the texture of your stitching take center stage instead of the thread itself.

InvisaFil™ performs best when matched to the right needle, tension, and technique for your project:

• Hand work (EPP & appliqué): Use a fine hand needle, such as a #11 or #12 Sharp. The thin profile lets the thread sink into the fabric fold, keeping stitches close to invisible.
• Machine appliqué & piecing: Use a fine machine needle — 60/8, 70/10, or 80/12 Microtex — and slightly loosen top tension if the thread shows on the surface.
• Free motion & micro quilting: Pair with a 75/11 or 90/14 quilting needle. Because InvisaFil™ is so fine, it lets dense stitching and stippling sit flat without adding stiffness or bulk to the quilt.
• Binding & stitch-in-the-ditch: Load InvisaFil™ as the top thread when you want your binding stitches to blend into the fabric rather than stand out.
• Longarm work: Use needle size 12, 14, or 16 depending on your machine and batting.
• General tip: Always test stitch length, tension, and needle size on a scrap of your project fabric first, since InvisaFil’s fine weight can behave differently machine to machine.
