The 2026 Butterfly Sanctuary is an open, join-anytime series, so there’s no “too late.” Five blocks in, our community is already filling up with soft wool appliqué and rich hand embroidery. The stitches look far more advanced than they actually are to learn.

Sign up for the newsletter and you’re not starting from block one. Every Butterfly Sanctuary pattern released so far lands straight in your inbox the moment you join. From there, a new block arrives automatically each month for the rest of the year, about a week before the previous month ends. That means you have everything you need to catch up and work at your own pace. It doesn’t matter if you’re joining in January or picking this up mid-year.

There’s nothing left to figure out. The wool pieces come pre-cut and ready to stitch, no cutting required. Each pattern is sent one week before the end of the previous month, so you’re always prepared. The thread pack rounds it out with Ellana wool thread in 11 spools, dyed to match WonderFil Merino Wool exactly. It also includes Alison Glass Eleganza #8 Egyptian cotton in 18 balls, 9 solids and 9 variegated, for bold, defined hand stitches. Every year, our Block of the Month runs as a free monthly pattern series for newsletter subscribers. Once that year wraps, we shift our focus to the current program. Past collections then become individual downloadable patterns at $12 CAD / $12 USD each. If you missed a previous year, you can still stitch your way through those quilts at your own pace.
