Each kit gives you everything you need to design your own personalized bags, pouches, and journal covers. Australian designer Jennifer Moore created the kits to solve a problem a lot of makers run into. Most bags use tough, awkward materials that are hard to customize. Building one from scratch means a long list of tools most people don’t have. Felt fixes that. It’s beginner friendly, easy to stitch through, and forgiving if you want to try a design and start over.

The Luella Clutch: A Customizable Felt Bag Kit

The Luella Clutch started with a simple idea: a flat piece of felt that transforms into a finished accessory once assembled. The kit starts out completely flat, so it’s simple to work with while you’re embellishing. The finishings matter too. Strong straps, handles, and zippers make a bag last, and that attention to detail shows in the final piece.

The Rory Satchel

The Rory Satchel is built to be both an everyday accessory and a standout statement piece, simple to sew and ready to wear, while still leaving plenty of room for embroidery, appliqué, and playful embellishment. Add colorful fabrics, ribbons, laces, or trims and it becomes something completely your own. Customizing Your Kit

Because the kits are felt and start out flat, they can take on almost any embellishment: quilting, embroidery, hand stitching, appliqué, and more. If a stitch doesn’t work out, you can pick it out, spray the felt with spray starch, and iron it flat to hide the marks. If you’re unsure how a technique will look, test it on the inside of the bag first.

One go-to technique is layering decorative machine stitches with a variegated or multi-colored thread, right over fabric, appliqué, or the felt itself. It’s an easy entry point if your machine has a few decorative stitches to play with. FabuLux™, WonderFil’s 40wt trilobal polyester thread, works well here, especially the neon shades, which add colour and sheen whether you’re doing embroidery, appliqué, or decorative stitching. D-Twist™, a 20wt double-twisted rayon thread with a heathered look, is another strong option for adding real dimension to decorative stitching and embroidery work.

Ribbons, lace, trims, and bold fabrics layered around your stitching are an easy way to give a design a little extra pop.
